Trauma surgeons specialize in performing emergency surgeries on people who have had a critical injury or illness. Trauma surgery requires extensive knowledge of surgical procedures and injury management. Our surgeons have all undergone advanced training and certification to perform emergency, lifesaving surgeries that include blunt force and penetrative trauma. Trauma surgeons will typically come onto a patient’s care team after they arrive at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s emergency room with severe injuries.
