Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming a new Allergy and Immunology specialist to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network.
Alicia Alvarez, MD, is now accepting patients at the FPG Silverstein Institute practice in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch.
Dr. Alvarez is an allergy and immunology specialist who tests and treats adult and pediatric patients for a wide variety of allergic disorders. This includes testing and treatment of environmental, food, medication, and insect allergies. She specializes in advanced allergy and asthma therapies, such as allergen immunotherapy and biologic medications, and the evaluation and treatment of primary immunodeficiency.
Dr. Alvarez received her medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine, Brooklyn, NY. She completed her residency at University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, MI and her Fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. Dr. Alvarez speaks both English and Spanish.
