Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming a new internal medicine doctor to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network this week.
Bassem F. Philip, MD, is accepting patients at FPG’s Internal Medicine & Pediatrics office at Lorraine Corners in Lakewood Ranch of December 13, 2021.
Dr. Philip provides patient-centered, comprehensive care. His expertise ranges from treating hospital inpatients to providing outpatient primary care. He specializes in managing multiple complex disease processes.
Dr. Philip is board certified in internal medicine. He received his medical degree from Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt in 2005. He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at New York Methodist Hospital in 2009 and 2011 respectively. He then spent four years as a hospitalist in hospitals in Jacksonville and Middleburg, Florida before working in a primary care and outpatient practice in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Philip relocated to Sarasota in 2016 and has been working as a hospitalist with Envision Physician Services at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. He is excited to return to outpatient medical practice specializing in internal medicine and primary care.
