FPG Welcomes New Specialty Team for Neurointerventional Surgery

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming two Neurointerventional physicians to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network –Dr. Eyad Almallouhi and Dr. Vikas Gupta.

Neurointerventional physicians perform interventions to treat vascular brain and spinal cord conditions such as stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, cerebral aneurysm, AV malformation, AV fistulas, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and tumors of the head, neck, and spine.

Eyad Almallouhi, MD, is double board certified and fellowship trained in Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Neurointerventional Surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Damascus School of Medicine in Syria. He completed his Neurology Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and completed his Vascular Neurology and Neuroendovascular Surgery fellowships at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

Vikas Gupta, MD, is double board certified and fellowship trained in Neurology, Vascular Neurology and Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology. He received his medical degrees from the University of Calcutta in India, and Michigan State University in Flint, Michigan. He completed his residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He completed two fellowships – one for vascular neurology and stroke at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, and one for endovascular surgical neuroradiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey.
