Sarasota Memorial Welcomes Head and Neck Cancer and Microvascular Surgeon to FPG Provider Network

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming a new Head and Neck Cancer and Microvascular Surgeon to the health system’s First Physicians Group (FPG) network.

Wesley McIlwain, MD, is now accepting patients at the FPG Head and Neck Surgery practice in Sarasota.

Dr. McIlwain is a board-certified head and neck surgeon who treats patients with both benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck including mouth, throat, skin, sinuses, thyroid and skull base. He specializes in facial plastic reconstructive surgery, including microvascular free tissue transfer, of all defects of the head and neck, including acquired defects from Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancer removal. He also specializes in maxillofacial trauma and rhinoplasty.

Dr. McIlwain received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed his residency at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. His fellowship, specializing in head and neck surgery including tumor ablations, facial trauma, cosmetic facial plastic and complex reconstructive surgery including microvascular free tissue transfer, was completed with Dr. Yadranko Ducic at his medical practice in Fort Worth, Texas.
